Five Most Underrated Musicians In Ghana.



Ghana is blessed with many artistic talents. The West African country can boast of three BETs amongst other world touring musicians.
However, many talents are underrated and shown little or no support. These talents are struggling to hit the limelight not because they cannot produce hit tracks but their works are not well appreciated by Ghanaians. Five of the most underrated artist in Ghana are.

1. A.I
Ayisi Ican known as A.I is the most underrated artist in Ghana. The silky voiced RnB, Hiphop and Afro beats artist is the brain behind most of the catchy choruses of your various hit tracks like Trigmatic’s Motromodwo, Obrafour’s Love Anthem, E.L’s Shine, Vision DJ’s Grind and Jayso’s Making Tasha Proud. He’s the only Ghanaian musician to have won the Hiphop/ RnB category at the world’s prestigious International Songwriting Competition with his monster hit Anger Management in May, 2014.
AI is signed onto a Ghanaian based independent record label 2legit records and has many songs and Mixtapes to his catalogues. He released his EP names Headstrong in 2018 and performed alongside M.anifest, Trigmatic, E.L, Obrafour amogn other great musicians.

2. Ras Kuuku

The reggae dancehall musician is very underrated and has been sat on for a longer time. He has the energy, the wild stagecraft and the soothing voice that could blow your off your feed yet he’s struggling to have a fair share of the recognition. He has songs like Bad System, Nwansena ft Luta, Wo and I Love You to his numerous catalogues.

3. Akwaboah

Over the years, Ghana has had a new feel of love songs circulating in our airwaves but the man behind this is less known. Akwaboah is one of the prolific super talented musicians Ghana could boast of. He doubles as singer, instrumentalist and creative songwriter. He’s the brain behind Sarkodie’s all live album MARY. He wrote about 90% of the songs on the album and also has a timeless album Matters of the Heart. He wrote Becca’s all time hit song Daa Ke Da and SP Sarpong’s Meko Nsohwe Bi mu. Akwaboah is currently signed onto Sarkcess Music owned by Ghana’s most decorated artist Sarkodie.

4. Wiyaala

Noella Wiyaala popularly known by her stage name Wiyaala is a Ghanaian native singer and a fierce performer. She has carved a niche for herself as one of the best performers of all time. She’s affectionately called the Lioness of Africa and was featured in BBC Africa as one of the most powerful African musicians yet she still underrated in Ghana. She normally sings in her native language Sissala and a little bit of the English language and that’s what many Ghanaians underappreciated her for. She’s very popular on the international music scene and has the potential of being Ghana’s first Grammy award winner.

5. Adina Thembi

Adina as she’s known is one of Ghana’s best females vocalist having won the Best Female Vocalists twice consecutively at the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. She’s known for hit songs like Too Late, Killing Me Softly etc. She’s doing very well in the industry but not being credited what is due her. She’s a highlife, afropop and afrobeat musician.

Emulate the steps of Shatta Wale, Fans of SM calls on other artistes!



Die in the wool fans of the self acclaimed dancehall King, Shatta Wale have expressed pleasure by the rate the artiste was constantly receiving international collaborations.

According to them, the ‘I know my level’ hitmaker was assumed by many as a local champion and could only attract local people, stressing that his collaborations have shut critics.

Just after the founder of Shatta Movement (SM) got featured on the American Rhythm and Blues goddess, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter’s Lion King Album, the musician hit another historic feature from a top American hip hop artiste, Mariah Lynn.

Speaking exclusively to in Accra on Thursday, the fans stated that the dancehall singer promised the year would be a breakthrough year for his brand and it came to pass.

“Shatta Wale said that 2019 is for big things and indeed big things are happening, this collaboration is positive news for the industry,” they said.

Sir Walker indicated that the collaboration was a sign that the industry was being recognised and a little push would fine tune it.

He observed that Nigerians were grooming their artistes well to attract international collaborations and called for Ghanaians to do same.

In order for the country’s artistes to attract foreign collaboration, Akosua Boatemaa stated that key industry players had to put much effort in the selling of the country’s art.

She underscored the need for the country to scrap out shows that sell Nigerian artistes at the expense of the local artistes, adding that they should organise shows that could sell the country’s artistes to attract foreign collaborations and investors.

Akosua Boatemaa expressed joy about the way Shatta wale broke grounds to sell his brand to the international market and urged other artistes to emulate his steps.

Epixode organises the maiden “Experience Concert”




It was a night of bliss, an atmosphere of joy and fun last Saturday at the maiden edition of an entertaining concert held at the Zen Garden in Accra.

Christened “experience concert,” the show which started at 7:00pm tilled dawn was organised by one of the industry’s finest dancehall arts, Epixode and backed by the Gentlemen.

It saw the spear header of the concert sparking the stage with non-stop hour performance which got the venue heated up the entire night.

Music lovers and fans were not only served with refined reggae and dancehall music but were introduced to the soothing tunes from the camp of the award winning prolific rapper and producer Trigmatic, sensational rapper Worlasi and the project fame icon Krissy O.

Speaking to in an interview, the talented singer disclosed that the show was organised to draw him closer to his fans, for him to consistently produce heart-warming reggae, dancehall and afro pop melodies that would interest them.

He noted that key industrial players were not organising much shows to get the citizenry entertained and promised to tour the country with lots of shows.

Epixode assured to make the concert an annual one to treat the world to loving tunes, introduced them to best known artistes in and across the country as well as providing a platform for young talented artistes to showcase their talent.

Epixode calls for change in the country with a new track “wahala Dey.”




A track that highlights the ills of the country was on Tuesday released by the Reggae/Dancehall prodigy Epixode, to foster change and development.

Dubbed “wahala dey,” it is four minutes-two seconds length and it spells out the need for politicians to imitate the good works of the former president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking exclusively to in an interview on Monday in Accra, ahead of the release of the track, the dancehall singer bemoaned that, when Nkrumah declared “Ghana our beloved country is free forever” the citizenry were expecting to break from all the bondages and suffering, yet the plight kept amplifying as the days went by.

He said people wept due to the ‘rot’ and corruption bedeviling the country, stressing that talented individuals did not get needed support and mediums to showcase their talents.

According to him the security were not beefing up efforts in tackling crime issues and securing the society from harm.

That, Epixode noted has increased crime and other illegal activities, hence called on all the citizenry to act right to make the nation a better place for everyone.

He reiterated the need for the individuals to be patriotic and act in a manner that would enhance development in the country.

The track was produced and mixed by Dream Jay with refined guitar sound and bass by Odikro and Steve.
